"I've been a customer for a very long time and-" bro I do not care. Every time a customer says this, it's almost always followed by This one lady some
  • 03
called in today and asked me if she purchases a final sale item and it doesnt fit, can she return it. I told her no, final sale means exactly that. Now there are certain ways around this. For instance if you receive a different

size/color/item than what you ordered. Of course, we cant tell customers that, and that wasnt her question. So instead of accepting that as an answer, she hit me with the "well i've been a
  • 05
customer of your store for a very long time, cant you do me this one favor?" No. Because you can clearly see it says final sale. You being a long time customer doesnt change the rules.

Another similar incident is when a "former employee" (quotes bc some of these people be lying) who are now customers try to tell me how to do my job and state that they used to be an employee for X amount of years and that they used to do the thing that they're asking me to do, for other people all the time.
  • 07
Okay?? Thats cool, Im glad you did that. But unless you're prepared to offer me a job making the same or more+benefits in the event that Im fired for listening to you, then please...stop telling to risk breaking the rules and potentially be terminated because you cant take no for an answer

Styx-n-String People who claim to be longtime customers or former employees or former pharmacists (no you aren't, we can see who's held a pharmacy license in the US and you haven't, stop lying) will
  • 09
usually get a response where I pretend to be very relieved and say, "Oh, good, then you understand why we have these policies and can't break them! I definitely don't have to explain it to you, you already know!"
  • 10
Roboticheartbeat. When I worked customer service and a customer would want me to break a rule, saying "well the employee last time did it for me!" I would
  • 11
very seriously say, "Do you remember who helped you? Because that's against policy and I need to report that." 100% of the time they deflated and left it alone.
  • 12
christinamarie76 "Oof... that explains why he was fired... Yeah, I'm not in a position where I can afford to be fired. Sorry."
  • 13
SimpleVegetable5715. Then they started pulling the, "but so and so at the store 10 miles down the road did it for me". Fine, you can go to that location then, but at this location, it's against policy.
  • 14
geri-in-calif I like to say "So THAT'S why we're being audited! Because management is definitely looking to fire someone!"
  • 15
ArmyPanda92 I do this all the time. The extra cherry on the top is when they ask for a supervisor. I'm the most senior person when on-site and management is never there, so I get to pull the "I AM the supervisor" card
  • 16
MacaroonChance5560 My response is "I can't break policy. However, if a previous agent made a mistake, I can fix it. Would you like me to balance your account and deduct the refund they issued?"
  • 17
Shame8891 That's when you ask them, "Which employee does that for you so I can get them fired?"
  • 18
Free Thinker4ever Right? Why people think that's some kind of flex, I'll never know. I left my old company a couple months ago and former boss still discounts me. Not because I worked there, but because he's nice. I don't ask.
  • 19
nobikflop Exactly, if you have to say, "i deserve special treatment" you definitely don't
  • 20
Friendly_Island_9911. You say: "I have been a customer for a very long time." I hear: "I have been a pain for a very long in the time."
  • 21
Altruistic-Patient-8. Ive been a long time customer of mcdonalds. I dont expect free food and happy smiles.
  • 22
Makeutso My fav is the whole "i know the owner, he always gives me a discount. "Ok call the owner and tell him what discount u get" "I dont know his number" "Well i guess u guys must be close"
  • 23
UnauthorizedFart. I had a customer tell me "I work at Google, I know how billing notifications are sent" after I guided her to view her spam/junk folders to find out that yes, we did inform you your account would be disabled for non payment
  • 24
Zealousideal_You_228 I heard a lot of "but I know the owners" at one position I had. Towards the end I just started saying "cool, so do I".
  • 25
RedFoxBlueSocks "If you know the owners then you understand that I'll be fired for doing what you're asking."
  • 26
delicate-fn-flower There's a trope for us who are servers — if your table tells you they used to wait tables, expect some of the neediest and demanding people who will not tip well. Good servers never tell you they are servers, so it's just a kiss of death once we hear a table say that.
  • 27
Sector-Away I hate the people who call in and say "I know it's not your fault" then proceed to yell, scream at you and call you names
  • 28
glitterfaust And it's 98% of the time some mf I've never even seen before. Like I work here nearly every day and have for years, yet you do not recognize me at all and I've never seen you? Yeah I'm sure we'll super miss your business
  • 29
Proper_Instruction67 I hate people who come up to me and start arguing that they've been coming here for a while and it's always been fine. Well f-you, I am not risking my job because other people were allowing you to scam us, I actually need it to survive
